Fresno County, CA – According to Fox40, on the night of Monday, July 29, 2024, 32-year-old Joshua Adams was injured in a head-on collision with an 85-year-old Sacramento man who swerved into oncoming traffic and lost his life as a result.
The elderly man was driving southbound in the far right lane of I-5, when he suddenly made a sharp left turn, crossing multiple lanes and moving into the path of a Chevrolet driven by Joshua Adams.
Adams recounted that he was traveling between 70 and 75 mph when the man’s Ford veered into his lane, resulting in a collision with the front passenger side of the Ford.
After the vehicles came to a stop on their wheels, the Sacramento man’s Ford caught fire. Bystanders quickly intervened, pulling him from the vehicle before it was fully engulfed in flames. Despite their efforts, the man succumbed to his injuries.
The Sacramento man’s identity has not been released, pending notification of his next of kin. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Personal Injury Claims
Determining fault in a collision can hinge on various factors, and in California, partial liability can be assigned to multiple parties. Assisting in establishing legal liability is one of the key roles that a personal injury attorney can fulfill for victims recovering from a traffic accident.
Suppose it is determined that the actions of another contributed toward the injuries. In that case, victims may qualify to file a personal injury claim with the insurance provider of those responsible. Such a claim can offer compensation to help offset hospital expenses and the loss of income from taking time off work for recovery.
