Mother, Child Killed in Fiery Single-Vehicle Crash on South Vasco Rd near Naylor Ave in Livermore

Livermore, CA — On Sunday, July 21, 2024, a tragic single-vehicle collision killed both a mother and her 5-year-old child, according to KRON.

Preliminary investigations indicate that a 25-year-old male driver, his 24-year-old girlfriend, and their 5-year-old child, all residents of Manteca, were traveling northbound on South Vasco Road, in a black Hyundai. Just before 2:30 AM, near Naylor Avenue, the Hyundai veered off the roadway for unknown reasons and crashed into a tree. No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Upon arrival, Livermore Police Department (LPD) officers found the vehicle engulfed in flames. Emergency crews managed to rescue the driver from the burning car. Regardless of life-saving efforts, his girlfriend succumbed to her wounds at the scene. All three were transported to a nearby hospital, where their 5-year-old child died as well.

The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau will release the identities of the deceased mother and child at a later time. Authorities have not yet determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the collision.

Liability in Single-Vehicle Collisions

In certain situations, investigations may uncover that some liability for a single-vehicle collision falls on other drivers nearby or even on unsafe roadway structures. Sorting through these details to help victims and their families secure proper compensation is one of the key services a personal injury attorney offers.

After establishing liability, a personal injury attorney can negotiate with insurance companies on the victim’s behalf. Insurance companies invariably aim to minimize payouts for claims they cannot deny, making legal representation crucial for obtaining fair compensation.

Passenger Liability

The liability insurance that drivers carry is designed to cover accidental harm caused not only to those outside the vehicle but also to passengers within it. A driver is responsible for the safety of everyone in their vehicle.

While making a Wrongful Death or personal injury claim against someone who knew the victim personally can be emotionally challenging, the financial burdens following a vehicular accident can be substantial.

A skilled personal injury attorney can help grieving families seek proper compensation for their loss by navigating these complex issues and negotiating on the victim’s behalf with insurance companies, who routinely work to minimize the payout of any claim they cannot deny.
