Hanford, CA – According to KSEE, 43-year-old motorcyclist Ivan Campos-Anaya was hospitalized with major injuries following a solo-vehicle crash near Hanford on Tuesday night, July 9, 2024.
Around 10 PM, an officer from the Hanford area office attempted to stop a 2006 Harley Davidson motorcycle for a traffic violation. Campos-Anaya, the rider, did not comply, leading to a brief pursuit. CHP officials noted that the chase was terminated just minutes after it began.
The crash occurred shortly after the pursuit was called off. Campos-Anaya was traveling eastbound on the dirt road extension of Excelsior Avenue, just east of 4th Avenue. This area, known for its agricultural landscape, consists of narrow, unpaved roads that can be treacherous, especially at night.
Investigators revealed that Campos-Anaya’s motorcycle hit a rising dirt grass embankment next to an irrigation canal at an undetermined speed. The force of the collision launched the motorcycle airborne across the canal, causing it to crash into a nearby fence. The impact ejected Campos-Anaya from his motorcycle, resulting in significant injuries.
In the aftermath of the crash, officers from the CHP and deputies from the Kings County Sheriff’s Office quickly arrived at the scene. They provided immediate medical assistance to Campos-Anaya before he was airlifted to Kaweah Health Medical Center.
