Reedley, CA — Investigators suspect alcohol may have played a role in a collision that left two men dead on Saturday evening, June 29, 2024, just outside of Reedley, according to KSEE.
The incident occurred around 7 PM at the intersection of Englehart and Manning Avenues. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers responded to the scene following reports of a two-vehicle collision.
Preliminary investigations revealed that a Chevrolet Impala was traveling southbound on Englehart Avenue, approaching the stop sign at Manning Avenue. At the same time, a Ford F-150, carrying three occupants from Orange Cove, was heading westbound on Manning Avenue, a through road.
For reasons yet to be determined, the Chevrolet Impala failed to stop at the stop sign and entered the path of the Ford F-150. The front end of the Ford collided with the left front of the Chevrolet, resulting in a severe impact.
The collision proved fatal for the driver and the front-seat passenger of the Chevrolet Impala, both men believed to be in their 30s. They were pronounced dead at the scene. The three occupants of the Ford F-150 sustained minor injuries and are expected to recover.
CHP officers are investigating whether alcohol was a contributing factor in the crash, as initial indications suggest this possibility. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to confirm these suspicions and gather more details about the circumstances leading to the collision.
The identities of the victims have not yet been released.
