Sacramento, CA – According to The Sacramento Bee, a 71-year-old Sacramento man lost his life in a motorcycle accident on Stockton Boulevard in the south Sacramento area, late Thursday night, June 20, 2024.
The crash was reported around 10:45 PM in the southbound lanes near 16th Avenue, close to the Colonial Heights neighborhood. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the elderly man was riding a 2004 Harley-Davidson motorcycle when he collided with the driver’s side of a 1999 pickup truck.
The Dodge was driven by a 41-year-old Sacramento resident who had stopped at 16th Avenue. After visually clearing the road, the driver proceeded to make a left turn onto northbound Stockton Boulevard, leading to the fatal collision with the Dodge pickup’s driver’s side door. The force of the impact left the motorcycle blocking one of the southbound lanes and left the rider unresponsive at the scene.
The driver of the Dodge pickup remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities. According to the CHP, he did not report any injuries, and no passengers were present in his vehicle at the time of the crash.
Emergency responders transported the motorcyclist to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries there. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office is withholding the name of the deceased until his family has been notified.
The investigation determined that the driver of the pickup was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The CHP continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.
