Madera County, CA – A 20-year-old male motorcyclist from Lemoore lost his life on Saturday afternoon, June 22, 2024, after a collision in Madera County, according to The Fresno Bee.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reports that the fatal crash occurred at 3:50 PM at the intersection of Highway 49 and Hilltop Lane.
The motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Highway 49, just south of Hilltop Lane, while a 26-year-old driver in a recreational vehicle (RV) was heading northbound on Highway 49, navigating a curve.
As they approached each other, the motorcyclist lost control of his vehicle and sideswiped the RV, which led to the motorcycle crash. Despite emergency responder efforts, the young motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the RV was not injured in the accident.
CHP officials have stated that neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected of having played a role in the crash. The investigation is ongoing to determine what led to this heartbreaking accident.
Wrongful Death Claims
Establishing fault in a collision can depend on multiple factors. One crucial way a personal injury attorney can assist grieving families is by determining legal liability after the loss of a loved one in a traffic accident.
If another party is found to hold some responsibility for the death, the family may be eligible to file a Wrongful Death claim with the at-fault driver’s insurance provider. This claim can provide compensation to help cover hospital fees, burial costs, and the loss of support for the deceased’s dependents.
