Consuelo Cordova De Hernandez, 53, Killed in Crash at Kamm, Jameson Ave in Fresno

Fresno, CA – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the driver who tragically lost her life in a collision Monday afternoon, June 17, 2024, as 53-year-old Consuelo Cordova De Hernandez from Riverdale, according to The Fresno Bee.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the crash occurred at approximately 1:20 PM at the intersection of Kamm and Jameson Avenues. According to the CHP, an SUV driven by Hernandez failed to stop at a posted stop sign. Consequently, her vehicle was struck by a commercial semi-truck traveling west on Kamm Avenue.

The force of the collision caused extensive damage to both vehicles and pushed them into a nearby almond orchard, where the truck rolled onto its side. Hernandez was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of her injuries.

The driver of the semi-truck sustained minor injuries and was treated at the scene. CHP officers are conducting a thorough investigation to determine the exact circumstances that led to the collision.

Comparative Liability and Wrongful Death

While some news outlets may have attempted to determine fault for an accident, these statements are merely based on initial investigative findings that may or may not hold up in court. Moreover, California law upholds pure comparative liability, which means that even if a driver bears some responsibility for their own accident, if another is found even partially liable, they are financially responsible for their share.

No amount of money can bring back those we love to a vehicular fatality, but the loss of life can come with hefty funeral expenses, medical costs, and the loss of support for dependents of the deceased. An experienced personal injury attorney can help grieving families recoup these costs by pursuing a Wrongful Death claim with the insurance provider of those at fault.
