Los Osos, CA – According to The San Luis Obispo Tribune, a hit-and-run accident on Los Osos Valley Road left a motorcyclist hospitalized with severe injuries on Thursday evening, July 13, 2024.
The collision occurred around 8:48 PM, when a 2004 Hyundai Elantra exited a parking lot across Los Osos Valley Road, just west of Sunset Drive, at an undetermined speed, while a 35-year-old man was traveling eastbound on a motorcycle.
According to a California Highway Patrol (CHP) news release, the Hyundai driver failed to notice the oncoming motorcyclist and moved directly into his path, resulting in a violent collision between the front of his motorcycle and the left side of the Hyundai. The impact launched the motorcyclist from his vehicle.
The Hyundai driver then fled the scene, speeding westbound on Los Osos Valley Road before emergency responders arrived. Authorities have yet to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the accident.
As the investigation unfolds, the CHP is urging anyone with information about the incident or the whereabouts of the driver to come forward.
Personal Injury Claims
When the actions of reckless drivers cause injuries to others, the cost of caring for those injuries should not fall on the victims. Filing a claim with the at-fault driver’s insurance provider can offer compensation to help cover medical bills and the time taken off work to recover.
However, insurance companies have a vested interest in denying or minimizing claims. This is why the assistance of a knowledgeable personal injury attorney can make all the difference.
