Stanislaus County, CA — A head-on collision north of Turlock on Saturday afternoon, June 8, 2024, claimed the lives of 25-year-old Dominique Cardenas of Turlock and 36-year-old Jesus Hernandez-Perez of Modesto, The Modesto Bee reports.
The fatal crash occurred around 4 PM on Geer Road, just south of Grayson Road, involving a 2013 Lexus driven by Cardenas and a 1996 Toyota operated by Hernandez-Perez. The preliminary investigation indicates that Cardenas was traveling southbound on Geer Road when she crossed the double yellow lines into the northbound lane, resulting in a devastating collision with Hernandez-Perez’s vehicle.
The impact was severe enough that neither survived. Emergency responders pronounced both Cardenas and Hernandez-Perez dead at the scene.
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) suspects that alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this tragic incident. However, the investigation is ongoing, and officials are working to determine the full circumstances surrounding the crash. Authorities continue to urge anyone with information about the crash to come forward to aid in the investigation.
