Fresno County, CA – A single-vehicle collision claimed the life of a 63-year-old man on Thursday morning, June 6, 2024, in Fresno County, according to KSEE.
Around 11:40 AM, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) Communications Center received a call about a solo vehicle crash, prompting officers and emergency medical personnel to rush to the scene of the crash near Shaw Avenue, just west of Chateau Fresno Avenue.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the man was driving a Ford Mustang eastbound on Shaw Avenue when he lost control of the vehicle. The Mustang veered off the roadway onto the south shoulder, where it struck a eucalyptus tree. The force of the collision caused the Mustang to overturn multiple times as it continued moving eastward, hitting several more trees along the way.
In the process, the driver was ejected from the vehicle. He was found on the ground, south of the roadway, near where the Mustang came to rest. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
At this time, authorities have not determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing as CHP works to understand the factors that contributed to this tragic accident.
Liability in Single-Vehicle Collisions
In some circumstances, investigations can reveal that some portion of the liability for a single-vehicle collision might fall upon other drivers in the vicinity of the accident or even unsafe roadway structures. Working through the particulars of liability to help victims and their families find proper compensation is one of the many services a personal injury attorney can provide.
Once liability has been established, a personal injury attorney can also negotiate on behalf of the victim with insurance companies, who will always seek to minimize the payout for any claim they cannot deny.
