Santa Clarita, CA — Dashcam video captured the dramatic moment a violent crash sent a deputy’s vehicle rolling through a busy intersection in Santa Clarita on Wednesday afternoon, May 29, 2024, according to KTLA.
The collision occurred near Newhall Ranch Road and Bouquet Canyon Road at around 12:19 PM, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The deputy was traveling northbound on Bouquet Canyon Road when a gold-colored Lexus, heading westbound, struck the passenger side of his cruiser.
The force of the impact caused the deputy’s car to flip multiple times through the bustling intersection before colliding with a silver SUV that was stopped at a red light. The crash scattered large pieces of auto debris into the air, narrowly missing other nearby vehicles. Dashcam footage shows several bystanders quickly exiting their cars and rushing over to check on the deputy immediately after the crash.
Emergency responders arrived promptly. The deputy, who was responding to a burglary report at the time of the accident, was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and was released later that afternoon. The driver of the Lexus, an elderly man, was unharmed and was picked up from the scene by family members. The driver of the silver SUV sustained minor injuries and was also taken to the hospital.
