Kings County, CA — A head-on collision early Sunday morning, May 26, 2024, claimed the life of a Fresno man and left two others seriously injured, according to The Fresno Bee. The fatal crash occurred at 2:15 AM on Avenal Cutoff Road, south of 25th Avenue in Kings County.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a 23-year-old man from Fresno was driving a blue Chevrolet Malibu northbound on Avenal Cutoff Road at the same time that a white Ford F-150 was heading southbound. For reasons still under investigation, the Chevrolet crossed the dividing line and collided head-on with the Ford.

The Fresno man driving the Chevrolet was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Ford F-150 sustained major injuries and was airlifted to Community Regional Medical Center for urgent care. Additionally, the right front passenger of the Chevrolet suffered severe injuries and was flown to Kaweah Health Medical Center for treatment.

At this stage, CHP has not determined whether alcohol or drugs played a role in the collision. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.

Wrongful Death Claims

Establishing fault in a collision can depend on multiple factors. Helping to determine legal liability is one of the ways that a personal injury attorney can help grieving families recovering from the loss of a loved one in a traffic accident.

Suppose it is determined that another party holds some portion of responsibility for their loved one’s death. In that case, they may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim with the insurance provider of the at-fault driver. A wrongful death claim can provide compensation to help cover hospital fees, burial costs, and the loss of support for dependents of the deceased.

Personal Injury Claims

When the actions of reckless drivers lead to injuries for others, the cost of caring for those injuries should not fall upon their victims. Filing a claim with the insurance provider of the at-fault driver can offer compensation to help cover medical bills and time taken off of work to recover from injuries.

However, insurance companies always have it in their interests to deny or minimize all claims they receive, which is why the help of a knowledgeable personal injury attorney can make all the difference.
