Fresno, CA — The Fresno County Coroner’s Office reported on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, that 69-year-old Helotes man Paul Hardin has died from the injuries he received in the collision that killed his 65-year-old wife Mary on Saturday night, May 18, 2024, according to The Fresno Bee.
The fatal three-vehicle collision happened at approximately 8:30 PM at the junction of Highway 41 and Manning Avenue when a white Camaro stopped at a red light. The Hardins were positioned behind the Camaro in their gray Nissan when a white F-250 pickup truck rear-ended the Nissan, slamming it into the Camaro.
Mary Hardin was pronounced dead at the scene. She and her husband were visiting the Central Valley as part of their mission work with the Mormon church. Her husband Paul was taken to a local hospital with major injuries, where he sadly passed away two days later.
The drivers of the Camaro, 31-year-old Mark Anthony Rivera of Fresno, and the F-250, 54-year-old David Alvarado of Madera, were also transported to the hospital but sustained only minor injuries. Alvarado was arrested on suspicion of DUI and booked into the Fresno County jail.
Wrongful Death Claims
While no amount of money can bring back those who lose their lives in a vehicular fatality, the emotional burden of their loss is often accompanied by a financial burden that falls on their surviving family members.
A wrongful death claim filed with the insurance provider of parties who bear even partial liability can provide compensation to help cover medical expenses, burial costs, and even the loss of support for dependents of the deceased.
However, because insurance companies carry the incentive to reduce the payout for any claim they cannot deny, the services of a skilled personal injury attorney can prove crucial in securing justice for the deceased.
