Fresno County, CA – According to KSEE, the Fresno County Coroner’s Office identified the victims of a fatal collision on Thursday, May 16, 2024, as 30-year-old Lizbeth Sanchez and 38-year-old Santiago Martinez Ceja residents of Los Banos.
California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers were dispatched to the intersection of North and De Wolf Avenues following reports of a severe traffic collision at approximately 2:10 PM. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a catastrophic scene involving a Chevy Silverado and a red Mitsubishi.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the Chevy Silverado was traveling eastbound toward the intersection. Simultaneously, the red Mitsubishi, occupied by Sanchez and Ceja, was heading north on De Wolf Avenue. Tragically, the Mitsubishi entered the path of the Silverado, resulting in a devastating collision. First responders pronounced Sanchez and Ceja deceased at the scene.
The precise circumstances leading to the collision remain unclear, particularly whether the Mitsubishi’s driver halted at the stop sign before proceeding into the intersection. No statements have been made regarding the potential influence of drugs or alcohol on any parties involved in this collision.
Wrongful Death Claims
While no amount of money can bring back those who lose their lives in a vehicular fatality, the emotional burden of their loss is often accompanied by a financial burden that falls on their surviving family members.
A wrongful death claim filed with the insurance provider of parties who bear even partial liability can provide compensation to help cover medical expenses, burial costs, and even the loss of support for dependents of the deceased.
However, because insurance companies carry the incentive to reduce the payout for any claim they cannot deny, the services of a skilled personal injury attorney can prove crucial in securing justice for the deceased.
