UPDATE: Musician Griffin Miller, 18, Identified in Fatal Hwy 101 Crash in Pismo Beach

Pismo Beach, CA – The Arroyo Grande community mourns the loss of 18-year-old college school student Griffin Miller, who lost his life in a crash that left his vehicle on fire, according to The San Luis Obispo Tribune.

Known by family and friends for his musical talents, Miller played the saxophone, sang in a chorus, and often traveled for performances. He had recently enrolled in the music program at Cuesta College where he brought his saxophone skills to their wind ensemble.

On May 2, 2024, around 11:42 PM, Miller was found on the side of Highway 101 in Pismo Beach in a burning vehicle that showed signs of having been involved in a collision. Although emergency responders found him to have a pulse when they arrived on the scene, Miller succumbed to his wounds before he could be transported to a hospital and was pronounced dead just before midnight.

While authorities have yet to determine what led to Miller’s fatal crash, his family have opened a GoFundMe to raise money for his burial.

Liability in Solo-Vehicle Collisions

In some circumstances, investigations can reveal that some portion of the liability for a solo-vehicle collision might fall upon other drivers in the vicinity of the accident or even unsafe roadway structures. Working through the particulars of liability to help victims and their families find proper compensation is one of the many services a personal injury attorney can provide.

Once liability has been established, a personal injury attorney can also negotiate on behalf of the victim with insurance companies, who will always seek to minimize the payout for any claim they cannot deny.
