Pollock Pines, CA – According to The Sacramento Bee, on Tuesday, May 7, 2024, along Highway 50 near Pollock Pines, a Tesla vehicle careened off the road, plunging at least 300 feet down an embankment and resulting in the death of its driver, identified only as a man in his forties.
Just before 11:30 AM, the vehicle veered off the westbound lanes of Highway 50 near a Chevron gas station, a few miles east of Pollock Pines in the Fresh Pond community, as per the California Highway Patrol (CHP) dispatch log.
Upon receiving a notification of the accident and damage sustained by the vehicle, El Dorado County Fire Protection District firefighters quickly located the Tesla using coordinates provided by the car’s onboard system. Tragically, they found the driver ejected from the vehicle, having suffered major blunt-force trauma.
It remains uncertain whether the Tesla collided with any other vehicles prior to veering off the road. Investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing as authorities work to piece together the events leading to this tragic loss of life.
