Fresno, CA – The devastating news of 11-year-old Amelia Marsh’s passing in a three-car crash on Highway 41 in Madera County has left her family, friends, and community in deep sorrow, according to KSEE with additional reporting from the Fresno Bee.
Amelia’s passing occurred on Saturday, May 4, 2024, in a car crash on Highway 41 just south of Jewel Vista Drive, as her family was en route from their home in the Coarsegold area to Fresno. The California Highway Patrol attributes the wet weather conditions at the time as a contributing factor to the tragic accident.
The collision involved the Marsh family’s cream-colored GMC Yukon losing control and slipping off the side of the road, where it collided briefly with a boulder before overcorrecting back onto the road and into the path of oncoming traffic. The Yukon was struck first by a silver Chevy Silverado and then by a white Buick Enclave.
Despite the life-saving efforts of emergency responders and help from Good Samaritans who stopped to assist after the crash, Amelia lost her life at the scene. Amelia’s parents received transportation to Community Regional Medical Center, while her two younger siblings received treatment at Valley Children’s Hospital.
