Sutter County – FOX40 reports that, on Thursday, April 26, 2024, a head-on collision resulted in one fatality and another individual hospitalized with major injuries. The incident unfolded around 3 PM near W. Riego Road and Pacific Avenue, just east of Highway 99, according to California Highway Patrol (CHP).
According to CHP, a Toyota Corolla traveling east on W. Riego Road veered across the double yellow lines, colliding head-on with a pickup truck towing a Bobcat. The impact of the crash claimed the life of the Corolla’s driver, a 24-year-old man from Roseville, who was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the pickup truck, a 55-year-old from Sacramento, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment, while another occupant in the truck reported injuries.
CHP’s investigation has ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the collision. Although initial closures were in effect on Riego Road, the road has since reopened to traffic.
Wrongful Death Claims
While no amount of money can bring back those who lose their lives in a vehicular fatality, the emotional burden of their loss is often accompanied by a financial burden that falls on their surviving family members.
A wrongful death claim filed with the insurance provider of an at-fault driver can provide compensation to help cover medical expenses, burial costs, and even the loss of support for dependents of the deceased.
However, because insurance companies carry the incentive to reduce the payout for any claim they cannot deny, the services of a skilled personal injury attorney can prove crucial in securing justice for the deceased.
