Bakersfield, CA – A tragic accident unfolded on Saturday, April 13, 2024, resulting in the loss of a 21-year-old woman from Bakersfield named Jaqueline Orosco, according to KBAK. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the fatal multi-vehicle collision occurred on Highway 65, south of Highway 155, at approximately 4:59 PM.
A Toyota was traveling northbound on Highway 65 when a southbound Ford inexplicably lost control, crossing into the opposite lane and striking the left side of the Toyota. The out-of-control Ford then collided with a Honda that was behind the Toyota.
Regrettably, Orosco, a passenger in the Toyota, lost her life in the crash. Other individuals in both the Toyota and the Honda sustained varying degrees of injuries, necessitating their transportation to nearby medical facilities for treatment.
Authorities are actively looking into potential factors such as alcohol or drug involvement that may have contributed to this heart-wrenching incident.
Wrongful Death Claims
Establishing fault in a collision can depend on multiple factors. Helping to determine legal liability is one of the ways that a personal injury attorney can help grieving families recovering from the loss of a loved one in a traffic accident.
If it is determined that another driver holds responsibility for their loved one’s death, they may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim with the insurance provider of the at-fault driver. A wrongful death claim can provide compensation to help cover hospital fees, burial costs, and the loss of support for dependents of the deceased.
