Several Injured in Head-On Collision on Copus Rd near I-5 in Bakersfield

Bakersfield, CA – According to KBAK, on Copus Road in Bakersfield, multiple individuals sustained injuries when a woman attempted to pass traffic in the opposite lane, resulting in a head-on collision with an oncoming car. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to the crash on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, around 5:25 AM, west of Interstate 5.

CHP’s preliminary investigation revealed that a 52-year-old Bakersfield woman was driving a Chevrolet Silverado westbound on Copus Road, while a 47-year-old Maricopa woman was traveling eastbound in a Toyota Camry on the same road. The Chevrolet driver was reportedly passing westbound traffic in the eastbound lane at a speed of 80 mph.

However, the attempt to overtake ended tragically as the Chevrolet driver misjudged the distance and collided head-on with the Toyota Camry. CHP confirmed that neither alcohol nor cell phone use contributed to the crash.

The driver of the Chevrolet was the sole occupant, but there were four people in the Camry. All individuals involved, including drivers and passengers, were transported to Kern Medical for treatment following the collision.

Personal Injury Claims

After a vehicular accident, in addition to emotional distress, victims and their families can be overwhelmed with the sudden financial burdens of medical bills, loss of income due to recovery time, and, in unfortunate circumstances, burial fees.

The responsibility for these costs should fall upon those responsible for causing these injuries and their insurance provider. However, insurance companies will try to minimize the compensation for any claim they cannot deny, which is why having the help of a skilled personal injury attorney can prove crucial in ensuring justice for victims of vehicular accidents.
