Motorcyclist Injured in Rainstorm Crash Near Serpentine Ln, Prefumo Canyon

Prefumo Canyon, CA – On the afternoon of Thursday, April 4, 2024, a motorcyclist suffered major injuries in a crash near the top of Prefumo Canyon amid a rainstorm, according to the San Luis Obispo Tribune. The incident occurred around 5 PM when the motorcyclist navigated through the rain on a dirt road east of Prefumo Canyon Road near Serpentine Lane.

The unnamed motorcyclist crashed and sustained a broken leg. Emergency scanner traffic indicated that the woman fell approximately 20 feet down a cliff, prompting the need for a rescue operation. However, as of Thursday evening, a CHP spokesperson could not confirm this detail.

Initially, a helicopter was dispatched to the scene, but adverse weather conditions, including a sudden burst of hail, led to its cancellation, as reported on emergency scanner traffic. Subsequently, an ambulance transported the injured motorcyclist to Adventist Health Sierra Vista for medical treatment.

Liability in Solo-Vehicle Collisions

In some circumstances, investigations can reveal that some portion of the liability for a solo-vehicle collision might fall upon other drivers in the vicinity of the accident or even unsafe roadway structures. Working through the particulars of liability to help victims and their families find proper compensation is one of the many services a personal injury attorney can provide.

Once liability has been established, a personal injury attorney can also negotiate on behalf of the victim with insurance companies, who will always seek to minimize the payout for any claim they cannot deny.
