Fresno, CA – On the evening of Sunday, March 31, 2024, two teenagers driving an allegedly stolen Hyundai crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Fulton and Van Ness, according to the Fresno Bee.
The sequence of events began when officers initially attempted to halt the allegedly stolen Hyundai for traffic violations near Jensen and Cedar avenues. Despite law enforcement’s efforts to pull over the vehicle, the driver, identified as one of the teens, refused to stop. A brief pursuit ensued, but officers decided to disengage due to the unsafe driving behavior exhibited by the teenager.
The situation took a tragic turn when officers lost visual contact with the Hyundai after spotting its taillight from a distance. Eight minutes later, around 7:40 PM, law enforcement received reports of the traffic collision at Fulton and Van Ness.
The Fresno Police Department reports that one of the teens had allegedly disregarded a red light, leading to the collision. The teenagers were taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure. Additionally, three individuals from the other vehicle, two women and a 17-year-old, were also hospitalized due to complaints of pain resulting from the crash.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash are ongoing.
Personal Injury Claims
After a vehicular accident, in addition to emotional distress, victims and their families can be overwhelmed with the sudden financial burdens of medical bills, loss of income due to recovery time, and, in unfortunate circumstances, burial fees.
The responsibility for these costs should fall upon those responsible for causing these injuries and their insurance provider. However, insurance companies will try to minimize the compensation for any claim they cannot deny, which is why having the help of a skilled personal injury attorney can prove crucial in ensuring justice for victims of vehicular accidents.
