Bakersfield, CA – According to KBAK, on the morning of Monday, March 11, 2024, in the Rosamond area of Kern County, a big rig and a pickup truck struck each other head-on with fatal consequences.
Around 8:20 AM, the California Highway Patrol sent emergency responders to the crash site on Frontage Road south of Dawn Road. There they found the two trucks, a 2013 Kenworth tractor trailer and 2017 Ram pickup truck.
Investigations indicate that a 68-year-old San Fernando man had been driving the Kenworth northbound on Frontage as the Ram approached from the opposite direction, driven by a 40-year-old Mojave man with a 4-year-old female passenger.
The occupants of the Ram received transportation to Antelope Valley Hospital for their injuries, where the driver later died.
The reason for their head-on collision remains unclear, but the CHP do not suspect intoxucation to have played a factor.
Wrongful Death Claims
While no amount of money can bring back those who lose their lives in a vehicular fatality, the emotional burden of their loss is often accompanied by a financial burden that falls on their surviving family members.
A wrongful death claim filed with the insurance provider of an at-fault driver can provide compensation to help cover medical expenses, burial costs, and even the loss of support for dependents of the deceased.
In cases where the at-fault driver escapes justice, family members of the deceased by still be able to seek compensation through their own uninsured drivers coverage. However, because insurance companies carry the incentive to reduce the payout for any claim they cannot deny, the services of a skilled personal injury attorney can prove crucial in securing justice for the deceased.
