Modesto, CA – On Tuesday, March 5, 2024, near the Modesto Airport, a motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a big rig, according to the Modesto Bee.
The California Highway Patrol reports that the crash occurred around 3 PM when the driver of a 1992 Suzuki motorcycle attempted to pass another vehicle on Tenaya Drive, west of Mitchell Road.
When the Suzuki crossed the center line to pass, it came right into the path of a 2023 Freightliner truck driven by 44-year-old Shane Hebner of Manteca and crashed into the side of the truck.
Emergency responders transported the motorcyclist to Memorial Medical Center, where they died of their injuries.
Wrongful Death Claims
Establishing fault in a collision can depend on multiple factors. Helping to determine legal liability is one of the ways that a personal injury attorney can help grieving families recovering from the loss of a loved one in a traffic accident.
If it is determined that another driver holds responsibility for their loved one’s death, they may be eligible to file a wrongful death claim with the insurance provider of the at-fault driver. A wrongful death claim can provide compensation to help cover hospital fees, burial costs, and the loss of support for dependents of the deceased.
