Pomona, CA – On Saturday, March 2, 2024, a vehicle leaving a baby shower was struck by a DUI driver in an SUV, killing three and injuring two, according to ABC7.
Authorities arrested 36-year-old Pomona man Victor Siharath on suspicion of DUI after the fatal crash, which occurred at White Avenue and Phillips Boulevard around 11 PM.
Three of those in the other vehicle died in the crash. They have been identified as 33-year-old Yesenia (Ochoa) Olaez, 33-year-old Alejandra Olaez, and the driver of the vehicle, Lorena Morales.
Also in the vehicle were Morales’ husband Juan Manuel “Jaime” Garcia and Alejandra’s 12-year-old daughter Noemi Olaez. Both were hospitalized following the crash.
Wrongful Death Claims
While no amount of money can bring back those who lose their lives in a vehicular fatality, the emotional burden of their loss is often accompanied by a financial burden that falls on their surviving family members.
A wrongful death claim filed with the insurance provider of an at-fault driver can provide compensation to help cover medical expenses, burial costs, and even the loss of support for dependents of the deceased.
However, because insurance companies carry the incentive to reduce the payout for any claim they cannot deny, the services of a skilled personal injury attorney can prove crucial in securing justice for the deceased.
