Madera County, CA – According to KSEE, Another name has been added to the list of 8 farm workers who died on Friday, February 27, 2024, in a head-on collision.
58-year-old Roberto Robles Buñuelos was one of the occupants of a van carrying the men to their jobs at Lions Farms in Firebaugh when they were struck by a pickup truck driven by 78-year-old Auberry man Robert Jerry Kovar. A second van, carrying the workers’ family, could not brake in time to avoid joining the collision.
Kovar died in the crash, as did 7 of the farm workers. One farm worker in the van survived to be taken to the hospital for treatment of his injuries. In addition to Kovar, the names of 4 of the deceased have been released:
- Juvenal Jacobo Talavera, 24
- Hector Orozco, 33
- Alfredo Morales Sanchez, 30
- Roberto Robles Buñuelos, 58
All of the farm workers involved in the crash were residents of Kerman, CA, and the community has displayed an outpouring of support for the grieving families.
