Sanger, CA – On the evening of Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at Pitman Family Farms in Sanger, 19-year-old Jose Abrego died after being trapped under a semi-trailer, according to KFSN.
Investigations reveal that Abrego got caught between the trailer’s base and its wheels. Although emergency responders attempted life-saving measures, Abrego died at the scene.
Cal/OSHA has been notified of Abrego’s death, which was not the first for Pitman Family Farms. In 2023, 66-year-old Jesus Salazar lost his life due to what investigators suggested were serious safety violations, but Pitman has contested this ruling.
Wrongful Death Claims
When the reckless actions or negligent inaction of others result in the loss of life, grieving family members may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim with the insurance provider of the at-fault party, whether or not criminal charges are ever brought to bear.
The compensation provided by a wrongful death claim can help to relieve the financial burdens created by medical bills, burial costs, and the loss of future income to support any dependents of the deceased.
Following an accidental death or any major injury, victims and their families can receive guidance from a personal injury attorney who can help navigate issues of liability and negotiate on their behalf with insurance companies to ensure proper compensation for their loss.
