Bakersfield, CA – According to KBAK, on the morning of February 21, 2024, a two-vehicle crash on Highway 14 at Highway 58 killed a 61-year-old Ridgecrest woman and hospitalized a 63-year-old man.

Around 10:58 AM, officers of the California Highway Patrol received word of the crash. They found the Ridgecrest woman had been driving a 2015 Chrysler when she collided with a 2005 Chervrolet 3500 driven by an 80-year-old Angwin woman.

The Ridgecrest woman died in the crash. Her passenger received transport to Antelope Valley Hospital for treatment of his injuries.

While investigation into the causes of this collision continues, authorities do not believe driver impairment played a factor.

Wrongful Death Claims

While no amount of money can bring back those who lose their lives in a vehicular fatality, the emotional burden of their loss is often accompanied by a financial burden that falls on their surviving family members.

A wrongful death claim filed with the insurance provider of an at-fault driver can provide compensation to help cover medical expenses, burial costs, and even the loss of support for dependents of the deceased.

However, because insurance companies carry the incentive to reduce the payout for any claim they cannot deny, the services of a skilled personal injury attorney can prove crucial in securing justice for the deceased.
