Monterey County, CA – On Friday, February 2, 2024, two drivers were hospitalized and a passenger was killed in a collision near Royal Oaks, on Maher Road south of Tamara Lane, according to KSBW.
Around 4:34 PM, a 17-year-old male driver was speeding southbound on Maher in a white 2000 Honda Accord, while a 29-year-old male was driving a Honda Fit northbound at 30 MPH.
Initial investigations revealed that the two collided when the 17-year-old crossed the double-yellow lines while attempting to make a slight right, entering the path of the 29-year-old.
The impact ejected the 17-year-old and his 16-year-old male passenger from their vehicle. The passenger, a Hollister resident, was declared dead at the scene. Emergency responders escorted both drivers to Natividad Medical Center for treatment of severe injuries.
