Fresno, CA – Around 2 AM on Sunday, January 27, 2024, a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Clinton and Marks Avenues resulted in the deaths of 41-year-old Francisco Ramirez Villalobos and 68-year-old Joe Herrera Jr., according to the Fresno Bee.
Initial investigations have revealed that Villalobos, along with a yet-unnamed passenger, was driving a GMC Sierra westbound on Clinton at a high rate of speed as Herrera was driving a Nissan Versa southbound on Marks.
Villalobos disregarded a red light at the intersection and struck Herrera’s vehicle. Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders, while the GMC Sierra passenger sustained minor injuries.
Wrongful Death Claims
When a family loses a loved one as a result of a driver’s reckless decisions, they can be left with a significant financial burden in addition to their grief. Filing a wrongful death claim with the insurance provider of the at-fault driver can provide compensation to help to pay for medical expenses, burial costs, and even the loss of income to support any dependents of the deceased.
A good personal injury attorney can guide a grieving family through this process, offering legal expertise to take some of the stress off their shoulders, and negotiating on the family’s behalf with the insurance company, which will always work to minimize the payout of any claim they cannot deny.
