Atascadero, CA – According to The Sacramento Bee, a car crash on Highway 101 claimed the life of Edna Marquez Galindo, 32, from Fresno, on Sunday, January 22, 2024, at approximately 10:42 PM.
Oscar Del La Mora Marin, 37, from Reedley, was driving a Subaru Impreza southbound between 90 and 100 mph south of the Del Rio Road over-crossing when he swerved into the center divider.
Attempting to bring the vehicle back onto the roadway, he over-corrected, resulting in a clockwise spin across both southbound lanes. The Subaru then left the freeway, rolling over on the nearby Ramona Road.
Galindo, who rode in the passenger seat during the crash, was ejected from the vehicle. She was transported to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo, where she succumbed to her injuries. Mora Marin received minor injuries in the crash.
Afterward, Mora Marin was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and booked into San Luis Obispo County Jail, where he is being held without bail.
Wrongful Death Claims
While no amount of money can bring back those who lose their lives in a vehicular fatality, the emotional burden of their loss is often accompanied by a financial burden that falls on their surviving family members.
A wrongful death claim filed with the insurance provider of an at-fault driver can provide compensation to help cover medical expenses, burial costs, and even the loss of support for dependents of the deceased.
However, because insurance companies carry the incentive to reduce the payout for any claim they cannot deny, the services of a skilled personal injury attorney can prove crucial in securing justice for the deceased.
