Madera County, CA – ABC30 reports that, Thursday, January 18, 2024, just before 6 AM, a multi-vehicle crash involving big-rig trucks and heavy fog claimed the life of a Madera man in his 30s.
California Highway Patrol officers responded to the collision at the intersection of Highway 152 and Road 9, which was begun by a big rig traveling south on Road 9, attempting to cross the intersection at Highway 152. An oncoming car collided with the big rig’s trailer, dislodging its load of tree stakes onto the roadway.
One car veered off the shoulder after striking the scattered tree stakes. In an attempt to avoid the stakes, another big rig shifted into the far left lane and collided with an SUV. The driver of the SUV, identified as a Madera man in his 30s, lost his life at the scene.
While one other driver suffered minor injuries, the crash remains under investigation by the CHP. Authorities are working to determine the exact sequence of events and factors contributing to this fatal multi-vehicle incident.
Wrongful Death Claims
Families who lose a loved one as a result of another driver’s actions or failure to act may have grounds to file a wrongful death claim with the insurance provider of an at-fault driver. While no amount of money can replace such a loss, the compensation provided by a wrongful death claim can help to address the financial burdens of hospital bills, burial costs, and even the loss of income to support any dependents of the deceased.
Insurance companies will do their best to payout as little as possible for any claim they cannot deny, which is why the help of a skilled personal injury attorney can make all the difference in securing justice for the deceased.
