Head-On Collision on Panama Lane in Bakersfield Leaves 2 Injured

BAKERSFIELD, CA — Two individuals suffered severe injuries in a head-on collision on Sunday, January 14, 2024, on Panama Lane east of Oswell Street, according to KBAK.

The California Highway Patrol responded to the crash after receiving a report at approximately 5:04 AM Sunday.

Their preliminary investigation revealed that a man driving a 2022 Cadillac, was traveling eastbound on Panama Lane at an undetermined speed at the same time that a 62-year-old Bakersfield resident drove a 2013 GMC westbound on Panama Lane, approaching the Cadillac. The collision occurred for reasons still under investigation, resulting in major injuries for both drivers.

As authorities delve into the circumstances surrounding the crash, the use of alcohol or drugs remains in question.

Determining fault in a collision like this can depend on various factors that law enforcement investigations can bring to light. Once investigations are concluded, victims have the right to file a claim with the insurance provider of an at-fault driver to cover the cost of hospital bills, property damage, and loss of income due to recovery time.

Even when fault can be easily determined, insurance companies have an incentive to minimize the payout offered as compensation, which is why the assistance of a knowledgeable personal injury attorney can be crucial in ensuring justice is served.
