BAKERSFIELD, CA — Two men lost their lives on the morning of Sunday, January 14, 2024, when their truck veered off southbound Highway 99, reports KGET.
The Ford truck carrying the victims struck a metal guardrail before colliding with a concrete pillar near the Wible Road over-crossing. Both the driver and passenger suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene
One of those deceased has been identified as 18-year-old Rodolfo Pulgarin Monarrez. According to his family, Monarrez and the other victim were welders en route to pick up equipment from their office before heading to work in Coalinga.
The California Highway Patrol is conducting an ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Should investigations reveal another driver to have been at fault in this fatal crash, the families of the deceased may be able to file a wrongful death claim. The compensation that a wrongful death claim provides can go toward relieving the burden of hospital bills or burial fees, even the loss of income due to dependents of the deceased.
Insurance companies will attempt to minimize claims, however. That is why the help of a knowledgeable personal injury attorney can make all the difference.
