Close Call: Fresno Man Retrieving His Mail Narrowly Avoids Crash

FRESNO, CA — In a heart-stopping incident on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, in southeast Fresno, a man had a near miss with a life-threatening situation as an out-of-control car veered dangerously close while he was checking his mail, reports KFSN ABC 30.

ABC30 insider Ruben Almaraz captured the harrowing moment just after 4:30 PM near the intersection of Tulare and Minnewawa in a shocking video showing the collision between two cars at the intersection. One of the vehicles then skids perilously toward Ruben, who jumps out of harm’s way just before the car can strike him.

Following the collision, one woman involved in the 2-car crash was transported to the hospital for medical attention. Details of the crash, its causes, and the degree of injury remain forthcoming.

Pedestrian Accidents in Fresno

All too often, Fresno makes national headlines for pedestrian injuries in automobile accidents. The “Dangerous by Design” study by Smart Growth America highlights how these dangers fall not just on the shoulders of reckless drivers but issues with the city’s infrastructure.

Because of pedestrians’ vulnerability, drivers must show them a “duty of care.” However, this does not change the fact that the insurance company of an at-fault driver will do its best to pay as little as possible when a pedestrian is the victim of a car accident. This is where the service of a knowledgeable personal injury attorney can make all the difference in ensuring victims receive their due compensation.
