Fatal 2-Car Collision on SR-99 Prompts Freeway Closure: CHP

Stockton, CA – Around 7:12 AM, January 5, 2024, the California Highway Patrol responded to calls regarding a two-car accident on SR-99, just north of Hammer Lane, that resulted in several fatalities, according to the CHP website.

The two vehicles, one black and the other white, both held an undisclosed number of occupants inside. There have been no reported survivors. 

The collision caused significant damage to nearby structures, including the Morada Exit signpost, a chain-link fence, and a metal pole. CHP coordinated the closure of the southbound lane to facilitate the investigation and removal of damaged vehicles. 

As investigations continue, details surrounding the circumstances leading to this unfortunate fatality are yet to be disclosed.
