Karo Margarian, 23, Arrested in Fatal Glendale Crash

Glendale, CA – According to KABC, surveillance video captured a head-on collision between two vehicles resulting in one death, two injuries, and an arrest.

The footage shows that, just before 8:30 PM on Monday, January 1, 2024, at Elm Avenue and Glenoaks Boulevard, a black BMW traveling westbound lost control for reasons unknown, struck the center divider, and crashed into an eastbound white Honda.

Officials have not yet released the identities of the Honda occupants, both men in their 70s. The driver was taken to the hospital to receive treatment for a broken pelvis and leg. His passenger died at the scene.

The driver of the BMW, 23-year-old Karo Margarian, was also hospitalized following the crash. Glendale police arrested and booked Margarian for felony reckless driving and suspicion of DUI. He was later released on bail. Sgt. Victor Jackson indicated that excessive speed played a factor in the crash, and the investigation remains ongoing.

Even if a driver like Margarian is not convicted, the victims of such a crash may have grounds for a personal injury claim. The family of the deceased can also make a wrongful death claim to cover the financial damages incurred by such an accident — medical costs, burial costs, and even the loss of future earnings.
