Motor Vehicle Accident Dangers in Fresno

Head-on collisions are heralded as some of the most dangerous types of car accidents that happen on our roads. Most of these accidents tend to occur when a vehicle crosses into the opposite lane of traffic, striking a vehicle that is headed in the other direction. These accidents can happen anywhere, from one-way streets to major highways. The results are typically catastrophic damages and injuries that end in hospitalizations or fatalities.

California’s Transportation Injury Mapping System (TIMS) revealed that Fresno recorded a total of 1,689 car accidents in 2022, with 2,199 individuals being hospitalized from these injuries. Out of these accidents, 104 involved head-on crashes, which means that these accidents accounted for 6.16% of accidents in Fresno in 2022.

To see head-on collision and car accident rates fall in general in 2023, drivers must always stay aware of what is happening around them. A reduction in careless driving habits such as distracted driving, speeding, and driving under the influence could lessen the number of injury accidents that we see throughout the county and the rest of California.
