Pedestrian Hit-And-Run Accident Dangers in San Jose

Those who travel on foot in San Jose quickly discover how much their safety is ignored by the city and by reckless drivers. Pedestrians can be forced to walk a mile or more to find safe crosswalks. They can also have to cross nearly a dozen lanes of traffic in front of inattentive drivers just to travel a few blocks.

It’s heartbreaking enough when defenseless pedestrians get struck by cars, but when the driver responsible speeds away in a hit-and-run, the act is indefensible.

San Jose sees too many hit-and-run cases each year, and too many suspects get away without facing any consequences. According to California transportation experts, San Jose recorded 53 serious pedestrian accidents that resulted in felony hit-and-run charges in 2022. At least 7 people lost their lives in those cases.

Pedestrian accidents are too common in San Jose, and hit-and-run drivers only make the problem worse. They often leave victims in the roadway, at risk of additional impacts. They leave them waiting longer on life-saving medical care. They also stick victims and their families with the enormous costs of medical care and sometimes the expenses of a proper funeral and burial.

A note about San Jose hit-and-run pedestrian accidents…

If a loved one was the victim of a San Jose pedestrian collision, you should be aware of the benefits available to you and your family through an insurance claim. Families can receive support for funeral costs and for the income lost now that a loved one can no longer provide for the family. This is possible even if a hit-and-run driver is never identified.
