A cyclist suffered major injuries after getting hit by a vehicle in eastern Modesto Monday morning. Modesto police say the collision occurred along Yosemite Boulevard near Parry Avenue on August 29, 2022.
KTXL-TV reports the accident occurred just before 11 a.m. and involved an SUV driver. Investigators say the SUV was traveling eastbound when the cyclist entered the roadway and was struck.
According to emergency crews on the scene, the cyclist suffered serious injuries and was rushed to a local hospital.

Bicycling Accident Dangers in Modesto
When cyclists in Modesto are on a street without a bike lane, they have a right to the lanes just as any car does. Motorists in the city don’t always respect this right and can place riders in dangerous spots with their careless driving.

Motorists can’t leave it to chance that 2022 bicycle accident numbers will begin a downward trend in collisions involving vulnerable riders. It’s critical that drivers pay extra attention to the lanes when a cyclist is nearby. They must slow down to allow a rider the chance to make it home safely on every trip.
