DUI Accident Dangers in Fresno County
Driving on roads in rural Fresno County at night can be a hazardous experience. Motorists won’t have any way of knowing what’s going on with oncoming drivers. They’ll likely have little notice when a driver loses control and crosses over the yellow lines.
The chances for a dangerous accident dramatically increase when someone has chosen to consume alcohol and get behind the wheel. DUI drivers won’t have a firm grasp of where their vehicles are headed and other drivers certainly won’t have any idea of the dangers in front of them.
Fresno County residents pay a terrible price for the mistakes drunk drivers make each year. California’s Transportation Injury Mapping System (TIMS) recorded 421 accidents involving alcohol across 2020 in the county. Those accidents led to a heartbreaking 40 deaths and left 544 people suffering from injuries.
Despite media campaigns and Highway Patrol checkpoints, people who have been drinking are still getting behind the wheel and causing devastating accidents on Fresno County roads. More accountability for those who provide alcohol and the family and friends who allow people to get behind the wheel while drunk is the only way to cut down on these tragedies.
