Fatal Accident in Stanislaus County, Suspected DUI

A suspected DUI driver was killed and another driver badly injured in a weekend crash west of Turlock. The Stanislaus County accident took place along Crows Landing Road south of Monte Vista Avenue Saturday evening on June 19, 2021.

The Modesto Bee reported the collision between a Honda Civic and a Range Rover SUV occurred around 8:30 p.m. The California Highway Patrol suspects the person at the wheel of the Honda, a 64-year-old man from Patterson, was driving under the influence in the northbound lane when he veered into the southbound lane. It was there that he struck the Range Rover head-on.

The Patterson man was rushed to Doctors Medical Center in Modesto where he later died. The driver of the Range Rover, a 26-year-old woman of Atwater, suffered major injuries and was also transported to Modesto. Her condition has not been released.

California Highway Patrol investigators are determining if drugs or alcohol played a part in sending the Honda Civic into opposing traffic.

Families who have lost a loved one in an accident can also seek assistance through a wrongful death claim filed against an at-fault driver’s insurer. This support could help with funeral and burial costs and replace the financial support the deceased can no longer provide for his or her family.
