On Tuesday morning, a three-vehicle collision with major injuries occurred on a highway in Santa Barbara. KEYTreported that the accident happened in the early morning hours in the southbound lanes of Highway 101 in Santa Barbara on September 12, 2023.
California Highway Patrol officials in Santa Barbara responded to the scene with multiple other emergency responders and found that three vehicles were involved in a multi-vehicle crash due to reasons that are not yet known. From there, two other single-vehicle accidents resulted, leaving debris scattered all over the highway in the area.
A total of six individuals sustained major to minor injuries in the accident. The six victims were all transported to Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital for treatment, though their current conditions are not yet known.
Due to the severity of the accident, multiple lanes were blocked in the area until 12:40 p.m. when the scene was cleared by officials.
