Recent reports have shown that the number of forbearance plans that have been offered to homeowners, through the month of September, indicated that there were improvements in the number of offers made to homeowners and since unemployment has remained relatively unchanged over the past few months, remaining around 9%, these opportunities for unemployment mortgage assistance may be beneficial for homeowners currently in need.

Unemployment continues to be one of the main hinderances in the housing market and within the personal lives of many consumers as well, but there are still opportunities available through the federal Unemployment Program, which is part of the Treasury Department’s Home Affordable Modification initiative, and it may bring about solutions to the problems that some unemployed homeowners face here and November.
The number of Unemployment Program forbearance plans that were started between July and August increased from 13,993 to 14,996, with forbearance plans that require homeowners to make no payment improving to 2,772, with forbearance opportunities that may require a reduced payment increasing to 12,224, which was up from the previous month of 11,364. These numbers by the Treasury Department track data through August 2011 and is the most recent information we have on these plans, but homeowners who are unemployed and struggling to make their mortgage payment do need to be aware that even here in November some homeowners are still receiving assistance from this particular opportunity.

Obviously, homeowners are not guaranteed help through this particular plan but there are opportunities available for those who are still suffering from unemployment to avoid foreclosure, bankruptcy, or financial hardships that may result from having no income and other factors like long-term unemployment. Not all homeowners are in a position where they can meet even a reduced payment on their mortgage, and this is where these forbearance plans have been beneficial as homeowners will be able to receive 12 months’ worth of forbearance if they meet these federal qualifications, but of course some homeowners are benefiting from state-specific programs as well.

While it will depend on the particular state in which a homeowner lives, some homeowners who are unemployed are getting payment assistance through certain programs, while others may be able to take advantage of dischargeable loans available in certain states that are not associated with the past program known as the Emergency Homeowners Loan Program. Obviously, each state housing agency will differ in terms of how long this assistance is available, what homeowners may qualify, and homeowners do need to remember that their mortgage servicer will have to be participating in these plans that have been implemented by the Hardest Hit Fund, but officials are still prompting homeowners to seek what may be available in their area as a help for the unemployed in terms of their mortgage payment is still available, but homeowners may also need to go beyond housing payment assistance and look to creditors or counseling organizations to help them find solutions to other debts in their lives so that these mortgage assistance plans may be more affordable if a reduced payment is still required.

Yet, recent reports have indicated that jobseekers who may be new to the job market or who are simply looking to transition from one career to another have hit roadblocks as a result of numerous factors, one of which may be the overwhelming amount of men and women currently looking for employment, but there are some indications that skill is hindering some from progressing forward and finding a job they seek.

It’s common sense that many jobs that are currently available may require specialized skills in certain areas as careers in technology, the medical industry, or other fields are not necessarily open for those who have a generalized set of abilities and may learn on the job, but rather the options are only open to those who have a very specific skill set that will be used to accomplish various tasks, complete projects, and ultimately allow them benefit a particular company. Sadly, there have been reports released in the past few weeks that indicate many hiring managers are looking for certain qualifications that are simply not being found among job applicants, but this is also lead to problems where some job seekers may not have the ability to develop specific skills that these hiring managers are seeking.

Understandably though, some job seekers understand the job market is much more demanding at the present time as there are a wide range of individuals with either no skill or years of experience who may be competing for the same job, and this has allowed hiring managers to tailor their wants to specific areas or individuals, which may mean that some young job seekers are going to have more trouble getting certain positions than others. This has also led some to either return to school or begin pursuing their education for the first time, which has created debt situations that have begun to worry many officials as students who are pursuing their education in the hopes of finding a fit in a certain career after graduation or those who are attending online universities to sharpen their skills are building more debt that may not necessarily allow them to get the experience they need to lead to a job opportunity.

Yet, it’s hope that as the job market does slowly improve, in terms of adding new job opportunities and workers, unemployment will decline and more hiring managers will begin to see employees as investments rather than bodies that they can use to fill a certain position as there are many young job seekers or even seasoned workers who are more than willing to come into a job and work their way up, but of course this is not always something every hiring manager is looking for nor does every industry allow for this type of worker as, once again, specific industries like the medical field or technology-related job did not have the time or resources to allow for on-the-job training without employees at least having a solid foundation from which they can perform their job and learn new skills along the way.

It may be the case that some who have returned to college, like those who may be pursuing a career in the medical field or changing their career path into this particular field, and get the basic experience they need and may be able to learn some of the skills on the job, but officials are urging jobseekers to make sure they fully understand the industry into which they hope to enter, or rather the industries in which they are applying, so that they will better be prepared in terms of what skills they need, how their education may help them with acquiring a job in these areas, and ultimately better appeal to hiring managers who may be looking for more from workers now than in the past.

However, unemployment assistance is available for those who are currently looking for ways to avoid foreclosure and may want to take advantage of options that may offer a reduced or even no payment for a set time. Yet, homeowners are still being made aware of the fact that traditional modifications like those from the Home Affordable Modification Program usually not open to homeowners who are unemployed as past problems that arose early in the modification program led to changes in qualifications that, when homeowners are relying on unemployment benefits as their only income, may disqualify some for this type of help. However, reduced payments and even forbearance options can be made available from the federal modification initiatives through extension programs, or there may be help specifically from a homeowner’s mortgage servicer when unemployment is a problem. However, reduced payments and even forbearance options can be made available from the federal modification initiatives through extension programs, or there may be help specifically from a homeowner’s mortgage servicer when unemployment is a problem.

While reduced payments may not help some, there are those who can benefit from lower payment obligations or even the opportunity to forgo making payments for a set time yet there are some states that have also opened avenues for homeowners to take when unemployment is a problem. In some cases, homeowners may be able to take advantage of subsidies available from certain programs that will essentially make a homeowners mortgage payment for a set time or up to a set amount, but there are of course dischargeable loan programs that homeowners have seen in the past and, once again, these plans may be able to offer the help that homeowners need when unemployment is in place.

Obviously, it goes without saying that homeowners who are in a position where they have lost their job will hope that a reduced payment plan is available, it is to be understood that traditional routes like federal modifications are not always open to homeowners in need when unemployment is in place, but this by no means indicates that there are no opportunities for help available. Simply put, homeowners may have to explore options like forbearance plans, private mortgage assistance opportunities, or these state programs that are available in limited areas that may also address mortgage payment issues that arise as a result of joblessness.

While there are some federal programs that do indeed address these unemployment plans, homeowners may benefit from simply talking with their mortgage servicer or even a housing counselor made available from the federal modification initiative to see what can be done when unemployment is in place. Yet, homeowners are still being urged to make sure they consult with resources or begin the application process when one of these programs is available as soon as they can as unemployment for some individuals has been a long-term problem.

Yet, many economists and officials feel that before we start to see any improvement in the overall economy other factors will have to see positive results as well, as many feel that housing will be one of the leaders out of our current slump, which at the present time is still causing a great deal of distress for homeowners as well.

While there were reports that home purchases increased in some areas, as well as refinancing activity increased as well, there are still negative equity issues and the ability of homeowners to meet mortgage payments that are causing housing problems to continue. Obviously, many homeowners are aware of changes in the federal refinancing program that can help homeowners in the negative equity situation but continued searches by homeowners to find affordable payment options for their situation has led to the continued need for loss mitigation efforts on the part of financial institutions that serve as these home loans, and there are of course many of these financial setbacks that homeowners are seeing being attributed to unemployment.

Yet, despite the fact that the decrease in jobless claims was small, it is still a positive sign that decreases are being seen, even if it is not enough where job creation will likely see any leaps and bounds in order to make a dent in the overall unemployment problem we have seen. However, it’s hoped that there are still positive reports coming from the area of jobless claims and employment numbers, since we need more job opportunities coming available and these unemployed workers filling these positions at an incredible rate in the coming months if we are to undo damage that many are still feeling from the recession.

Many employees are looking at their industry to see whether there are changes that may have already taken place or may be on the horizon that could impact their job, as some Americans are still in a position where they may not have a substantial amount of confidence in the sustainability of their employment opportunity, despite the fact that some currently do have a full-time job that, in this current job market, is seen as rare by many who are unemployed. Obviously, job opportunities are available but when it comes to individuals who can fill some of these job openings, there have been arguments that workers who are currently looking for an employment opportunity simply do not have the qualifications or experience in a certain industry to be beneficial and, this is where some workers who are thinking about retraining or changing careers are having to look at what their particular career may offer in terms of opportunities or how well it may thrive in the future.

Obviously, areas like construction and manufacturing, just to name a few, have seen setbacks after the recession and have reported numerous jobs that have either relocated overseas or are simply gone as a result of changes to the economy, but this is where some workers may be in a position to review these changes in their industry to see whether retraining or pursuing an education in an entirely different career will be helpful. There are some industries that are offering financial assistance to workers who will return to school and further their education or knowledge about a specific industry or career path, but this has also led to some individuals changing careers entirely.

As an example, many job opportunities that are currently available and have seen less damage done in their industry as a result of the recession are usually found in places like the medical industry, and this has led some men and women to return to school and either train in fields such as nursing or as an emergency medical technician, simple because fields like medicine or health care may offer more opportunities for workers to find a stable employment and income. While this is not the only industry that is seeing improvements or may have more job openings available to displaced workers or those who may feel their industry and job happen to be on unstable ground, looking into these aspects of one’s career field has drastically changed the plans of some in terms of their job outlook.

Again though, when it comes to changing careers or even pursuing retraining, officials urge workers to make sure that they look at what opportunities may be available, speak to current employers about possible assistance when it comes to retraining, or if an individual is looking to pursue a career in a different field entirely, advisers are often cautioning that these men and women be careful when it comes to the field in which they plan to pursue an education. Also, hiring outlooks and forecasts for certain industries may need to be considered so that these workers who are changing careers will be able to not only find a path that will be beneficial for their personal wants and needs but will also allow them to train an area that may have more options in terms of employment in the future.

Yet, areas like Nevada, California, and Florida, and some other states that have continued to see unemployment numbers remained in the double digits, which has led to the implementation of state programs that are hopefully still helping homeowners in need and debt repayment aid that may be available directly from some creditors.

Reports that were released a few weeks ago showing that the unemployment rate on the national level has remained unchanged at 9.1% were also followed by various state unemployment data that indicated there are still many areas that are seeing problems as some areas that saw the largest decrease in employment on a month over month basis were North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, which is information that was released last Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Yet, areas like Nevada, California, and Florida, and some other states that have continued to see unemployment numbers remained in the double digits, which has led to the implementation of state programs that are hopefully still helping homeowners in need and debt repayment aid that may be available directly from some creditors.

Obviously, homeowners and consumers who are struggling with debt repayment due to unemployment may have options available but these plans will come in very different packages as some may be directed specifically at consumers who are having trouble repaying credit card debts, as an example, or there are some homeowners who may get help when it comes to meeting their mortgage payment, due to the fact that there are areas like these states mentioned above who are still having problems when it comes to homeowners losing their home as a result of joblessness.

However, homeowners who wish to take advantage of foreclosure prevention assistance will have to work with and their servicer, their state housing agency, and they may even have to explore multiple options before the best fit is found for their financial problems, as not all states that are seeing problems with unemployment may have fully implemented Hardest Hit Fund plans, but there are many opportunities that homeowners may be able to take advantage of when it comes to finding more affordable payments on their home loan.

Yet, consumers who are having trouble repaying their debts may be in a position where creditors will offer them financial assistance through either forbearance options, lower payments or interest rates, or other agreements, but advisers often point out that these issues which may prevent a consumer from paying their debts will have to be addressed quickly before unemployment becomes problematic to the point where missed payments begin and a consumer falls behind on their debt obligations.

Why some are concerned about these unemployment assistance plans from housing agencies, creditors, or even mortgage servicers has centered around the high levels of employment that are still being seen on a national and state to state basis, as well as continued troubles in these specific states that have also led to decreases in employment and higher levels of jobless claims. Understandably, not every state is seeing these problems nor are homeowners in these areas specifically in need in all cases, but in instances where consumers are still struggling with unemployment, these assistance opportunities for mortgage payments, unsecured debt obligations, or other types of financing that consumers may have in their lives are continually being explored by consumers here in October, but homeowners and consumers alike are still in a position where not all may know what is available to help them during times of joblessness and financial distress.

Areas such as health care, the ability to purchase basic necessities, and even honor certain debt obligations like a home loan have been troublesome for unemployed individuals, especially when unemployment has been a long-term problem.

Furthermore, many reports indicate that unemployment is simply not the only issue which must be overcome but changes in job opportunities have led to numerous individuals being in a situation where they are underemployed, meaning they have seen a drastic reduction in their income, which has also led to problems when it comes to certain financial obligations. However, in major areas of financial stress, like honoring certain debt payments, unemployed individuals are seeing assistance programs still made available, like unemployment forbearance programs that may help homeowners avoid the loss of their home.

Yet, in areas like health insurance some of these unemployed individuals may be relying on a spouse, some may still qualify for COBRA health insurance benefits, while others are either trying to stay afloat with short-term health insurance plans or are simply taking a risk in going on without any coverage at the present time. Obviously, these financial issues are complex and an individual problem that many consumers have, but officials are urging those who are unemployed to take advantage of any opportunities that may help them in their financial life while they are unemployed.

One example is contacting creditors to ask for forbearance on credit cards, loans, or other debt obligations, speaking with mortgage servicers to inquire about unemployment assistance that may be available from federal or state programs, and even looking into the affordability of some short-term health insurance options, as there may be some who can qualify for coverage that, while it may not be comprehensive, will protect these consumers against excessive amount of medical debt if treatment is needed.

Obviously, being able to save in one area or more could help consumers meet costs in other areas as well, like those who are able to get more affordable payments on debts, eliminate certain payments like their mortgage through programs such as the federal Home Affordable Unemployment Program, or even state initiatives that may help homeowners with their mortgage payment, and this could free up some funding that could be used as either emergency savings, that could go towards health insurance plans, or maybe used to honor other debts as well.

While the route that unemployed consumers have taken when it comes to combating financial distress is often different, and will obviously be a personal choice that a consumer must make, advisers are pointing out that help is still available for certain unemployed individuals when it comes to lessening financial burdens during a time where long-term unemployment could potentially be hindering certain consumers and causing further problems.

As the national unemployment level remains at 9.1%, recent report also indicated that in areas such as job openings and hires, there has been little movement as well which has been of concern to some unemployed workers who are looking for opportunities that may range from seasonal work to long-term options that will help them stabilize their employment and income needs. Obviously, some unemployed workers have even had to take positions that are below their qualifications or former pay grade, which puts them in a situation where they are underemployed, but even these are seen as lucky when viewed in comparison to consumers who have been out of work for the long-term. Many consumers are watching the unemployment rate, which has made quite high over the past few months, in the hopes that they will begin seeing some form of hope in terms of recovery, job additions, or simple decreases in the number of unemployment and new jobless claims that we have seen over the past months.
Many consumers are watching the unemployment rate, which has made quite high over the past few months, in the hopes that they will begin seeing some form of hope in terms of recovery, job additions, or simple decreases in the number of unemployment and new jobless claims that we have seen over the past months. While there have been ups and downs in these areas of data, there are still some concerns as reports released here in October by the Bureau of Labor Statistics have stated that the number of job openings and hires in the month of August remained relatively unchanged, which has gone on to question whether overall employment recovery is either slowing, simply improving at a lower pace than is hoped to be expected, or whether more needs to be done in terms of helping businesses create job opportunities.

We have seen some concerns related to small businesses being able to get financing that could help with not only expansion and growth but job creation as well, but many officials often point out that the simple access to credit for companies is not necessarily enough to spur hiring to a point where it will do a substantial amount of help in terms of creating new jobs. Consumer demand has been low in some areas, as there are some indications that consumers are simply hesitant to buy at the present time but may be focusing on either saving or paying down debts.

While credit card use is still active, there are concerns that this holiday season could bring lower demand than we have seen in the past, but this obviously will differ from one retailer to another as the jobs that are predicted to be created for the holiday season vary as there are some stores that plan to hire more workers than last year while others are keeping their hiring in the same range or maybe even planning to add fewer workers. The question that has arisen as to why some consumers may be less likely to purchase has usually surrounded uncertainty in their financial future, as some consumers may be employed but do not feel that they are secure in their job and obviously do not want to acquire debt through unnecessary purchases or on high interest lines of credit, like a credit card.

Again, some industries are seeing some improvements in the area of job openings, but what has frustrated some job seekers is that there is no universal improvements being seen as some private industries are improving in terms of hiring options and job creation, but other areas like governmental employment opportunities have seen decreases as of late, which again has led to some job seekers questioning where they may stand the best chance at finding employment options at the present time.

Many workers and consumers often rely on seasonal job opportunities as a way to earn extra income but there have been some mixed predictions on what the seasonal job forecast will be in 2011, and this has led to some questioning whether there will be an availability of job openings that may meet or even come close to meeting the employment needs of many unemployed or underemployed individuals. Overall, the forecast remained quite negative in terms of retail hiring in the coming months, but there are indications that certain companies may hire a comparable amount or more holiday workers than they had last year. Yet, even if these specific companies do hire a larger number of workers for the holiday season this does not mean that the overall holiday hiring picture will be positive in terms of the total number of workers that will be added.
What has confused some workers is that there are predictions of increases that will be seen this year in holiday spending, which in the minds of many should equally to a higher need for workers. Yet again, there are some indications that certain retailers may be hiring fewer workers than last year, rather than seeing similar numbers from 2010. Obviously, when there are indications that some retailers may be hiring more workers this year or keeping their numbers level from last year but again workers are being urged to keep an eye out on various retail stores as some will simply be hiring more than others, which is all due to a great deal of uncertainty.

The reason that workers are seeing these mixed predictions is simply because many of these retail stores are unsure of what the holiday season may bring or what the economy may look like in a few months, so there are only predictions for the total of new holiday workers to be hired, as some retailers may simply change their hiring strategy as we get closer to the holiday season. Again, there are some reports that indicate retail spending may increase from last year, but for others it is predicted to be at a level much lower than increases we have seen in the past, and due to this unpredictability consumers may be looking at a situation where they have to put in more work when it comes to finding a seasonal job.

The homeowner Unemployment Program offering forbearance opportunities from the federal Making Home Affordable initiative saw improvements between reports released by the Treasury Department from July to August, as information tracking the progress of this particular plan showed that between June and July of 2011 there were increases in the total number of forbearance plans that had been started. However, we have also seen changes in the aspects of this program in which homeowners may find themselves, as there are some opportunities for homeowners who may be able to forego payments entirely while others are simply in a position where a reduced payment may be available. Homeowners who pursue the Unemployment Program as a way to help avoid foreclosure are usually in a position where they either can’t make a payment on their home or may not qualify for federal modification program, either because of income requirements or the inability to even meet a payment that may come as part of a lower mortgage payment agreement through a modification.

Yet, some homeowners are seeing reduced payment opportunities from this finance program, but again many homeowners are benefiting from the simple option that allows for a forbearance on a mortgage payment for a minimum of 12 months.

Between June and July and the number of plans started as part of the federal Unemployment Program increased from 13,521 to 13,993, with plans requiring some payment on the part of a homeowner increasing to 11,364, which was up from 10,881. Yet, between June and July, these numbers show that unemployment forbearance plans that did not require a payment decreased as the total numbers tracked in this category dropped from 2,640 to 2,629.

However, homeowners are still encouraged to speak with their servicer if unemployment is a problem as this particular forbearance opportunity could greatly help when it comes to avoiding foreclosure, particularly when modifications or other popular forms of foreclosure prevention are not helpful. Homeowners have not always been able to qualify for payment reduction plans nor have homeowners always benefited even when they have gotten a lower modification plan, but a forbearance opportunity from this particular program, which again may last a minimum of 12 months, can go a long way when it comes to helping certain homeowners avoid losing their home, but even in instances where there may be some payment required, homeowners might see servicers work to find a more affordable payment option than other forms of payment reduction initiatives may be able to offer.
