Snapchat Adds Red Heart and Two Pink Hearts as Best Friend Emojis

On August 5th, 2015 Snapchat added two new best friend emojis. Snapchat users will see a red heart and two pink hearts beside some of their friend’s names. Snapchat has released a statement explaining exactly what these emojis mean. The red heart means you have been #1 best friends for two weeks. The two pink hearts mean you have been #1 best friends for two months. If you plan on getting the red heart or two pink hearts with someone you are going to have to remain committed; well, for a few weeks, at least.

Snapchat has been known to release new updates without really telling anyone. The only way to find out about the new emojis for best friends was through the support function on the Snapchat app. Of course, most people are going to Google or asking people on Twitter what these new emojis mean.

While Snapchat has been valued at over $19 billion it is important to remember that the users are what makes the company valuable. With a large number of users still asking for the original best friends back it will be interesting to see how they take to the newest additions to the best friend emojis. Over time, it will be interesting to see how Snapchat addresses the Top 3 or Top 5 best friends. Many have reported relationship issues due to the fact that Snapchat has introduced them to thoughts of boyfriends or girlfriends cheating.

Now matter how you use Snapchat one thing is for certain, millions of users are sending billions of pictures every single month. It won’t be long before Snapchat catches YouTube and Facebook for total video views. Even though the videos are for less than 10 seconds they are still very valuable views for advertisers. Look for Snapchat to push college football and other college events heavily in the next few months.
