Obama Administration Healthcare Reform And Small Business Group Health Insurance

A report from businessweek.com has mention of a business group that is uniting to oppose the Obama Administration healthcare reform package.  The debate over healthcare has heated up over the past months as many people still vehemently oppose any change to the healthcare system, while others that are being crushed under medical costs are asking for something to be done.  The business group opposing President Obama obviously falls in with the former category and it is small business owners that worry over the change that could hurt their employees and their business.

Many businesses, from small, local business to large corporations seek out insurance agents and purchase a plan for a group health insurance package.  Group health insurance can benefit business owners and employees both, so many feel business owners are justified to be worried about how a change in healthcare could affect their company.

An employer who provides a good group health insurance plan will have happier, more loyal employees, if only due to the healthcare coverage.  There are numerous health care plans from which a small business owner could choose when dealing with an insurance agency, but no matter the health insurance plan, it all comes down to cost.

It is cost that many small business owners worry about for their workers and group health insurance plans.  Some employers pay for the cost while others may have the employees pay into the plan, but no matter the scenario, no employer wants the cost of their group health insurance plan, service costs, or premiums to increase.

No matter where you fall in the healthcare debate the common thread is there needs to a control of cost, since that is one of the main arguments in favor of healthcare change.  The healthcare reform initiative will have more supporters, especially from small businesses, if there are no additional costs for group health insurance in relation to any legislation passed.
