Can A Secured Bank Of America Visa Card Be Used To Build Your Credit Score?

Many people who are looking to build their credit are worried about the high interest rate they may have if they get a credit card when their credit score is low.  Bank of America is one lender who offers a secured credit card to customers looking to build or even establish a credit history.

Bank of America has a secured Visa card that can be used by anyone looking to improve their credit score and it comes with a competitive interest rate.  The way a secured card works is you must deposit a cash amount into a bank account and that will be, most often, your credit limit.  You then use the secured credit card just as you would any other credit card; keeping in mind your goal is to build your credit.

Many people who may not be financially responsible feel a secured credit card is similar to a debit card and they treat it as so, but that is not the case.  Money from the account is going to secure the card, meaning if you miss a payment the bank can take cash from the secured account, but this is going to do nothing to help you build your credit score.

There are financial organizations other than Bank of America who offer a secured credit card, so you will want to shop around for the best rate you can get, but since Bank of America is a well-established institution you will want to get your secured credit card from such an institution.  Take some time to look at what is advertised from lenders offering secured credit cards and then make the decision that is right for you.
