Jobs Bill Said To Extend Deadline To Apply For Unemployment, Extend Unemployment Benefits

Reports on the jobs bill say that unemployment benefits will be extended, even though the bill has yet to be finalized.  Many unemployed are wondering about the specifics of the bill and it has been said that, so far, there will be an extension of benefits and a deadline to file that will go into the month of May.

Many unemployed have been waiting for months on news of a further extension on unemployment benefits and it finally seems to be here.  However, as with past extensions, the swampy and uncertain waters of “Who Gets An Extension” has yet to be tread, so unemployment offices should be gearing up for questions if they haven’t yet done so.

Many analysts have been worried about the continuing extensions that have exhausted state’s unemployment funds and say that unemployment benefits extensions can’t be continued forever.

The problem with that thinking is, by stopping unemployment benefits, what will be the solution to the millions of people who have no income, a way to pay their bills, mortgage, or car payments, and perhaps will have no place to live.

Those who are employed keep touting the old “get a job” line, but where are the jobs?  Many politicians and political analysts have said that the incentives offered in the jobs bill, mainly the tax cuts, do little to promote hiring when businesses have few customers in need of their services.

Small business loans are said to be one focus of the Obama Administration and hopefully businesses that have room to grow will be able to start the process of employing America once again.

Until more solutions are found for the unemployment problem, Congress, after passing the new round of unemployment extensions, will simply have to continue doing so or risk having millions of Americans left out in the cold.
