It’s almost like dealing with fans of rival sports teams when mentioning the issue of the Google Nexus One and Apple’s iPhone. Depending on whom you ask, one phone is the very best and the other is trash. However, with the reported release of the Google Nexus One days away many are wondering if Google’s new phone with the Android operating system is going to compete or even overtake the iPhone or will it be buried under Apple’s seemingly unstoppable iPhone?

Many are referencing reviews of the iPhone before its introduction and how numerous technology sites, businesses, and average individuals simply thought it would never last due to the price and competition in the cell phone world.

However, the iPhone didn’t just survive but is still thriving in the smart phone arena. Google is getting the same flack for their phone, the Nexus One, and it seems to be escaping these naysayers that they are doing to the Nexus One the same thing that was done to the iPhone.

Now, that’s not to say that the Nexus One will have the same success as the iPhone nor is it to say it won’t. However, the question on many people’s minds in relation to the proponents and critics of the Nexus One is: Do you feel Google can’t compete with Apple?

Microsoft pushed Apple into the shadows in the 90s but Apple has fought back and many feel Apple’s ability to stay ahead of the competition makes them difficult to outdo in any endeavor, but is the Google empire really no match for Apple?

Google is said to be one of, if not the most, influential and cutting edge companies on the planet and they are constantly looking to advance technology in the same tone which they revolutionized the search engine.

So, with the iPhone/Nexus One battle on the horizon for 2010, what are your thoughts and predictions on the short-term and long-term outcomes for these smart phones?
