With Saturday being the last big day to shop before Christmas many are wondering what, if any deals retailers are making to draw consumers in to hopefully make up for low retail numbers from last year. However, certain factors seem to be working against retailers as bad weather threatens to keep shoppers away and unemployment numbers could spell bad news for merchants.
Retailers have watched unemployment as unemployment rates rose and an unemployment benefits extension was passed, so what will be the outcome? Retailers don’t wish to give merchandise away but it’s no secret that many are financially struggling and may be unwilling to pay more for gifts this year.
So, will retailers lower prices in the hopes of selling more merchandise or will prices remain the same with retailers hoping for unemployment numbers to have little or no effect on shoppers this year.
There are retail deals to be found, both online and in stores. Many merchants are selling two or more products for the price of one or similar products. If you still have a few things to pick up for those on your list, then Super Saturday may offer the best deals but don’t just bank on one day. As Christmas nears, retail sales will most likely be easier to find, as stores want to push as much merchandise as they can.
Look for advertisements in the coming days, as there may be excellent gifts to be found at affordable prices.
